The Brand Story of PUMA
Founded by brothers Rudolf and Adolf Dassler in 1919, PUMA originates from humble beginnings as a small factory in Germany. In 1936, Jesse Owens won four gold medals at the Olympic Games in Berlin, all while sporting Dassler spikes. In 1968, the Brush Spike that featured Velcro™ on performance footwear was designed for the first time. The tiny rows of spikes on the shoes helped athletes maximise traction and minimised resistance, which worked well for athletes at the 1968 Olympic Trials.
